July 10, 2001
"Beyond managerial decisions about broad goals and technical or financial issues, leadership means fostering the human spirit: creating relationships and systems that allow other people to get things done in an integrated, supported manner. To this end, we suggest that the following competencies are basic.
* Building Trust
* Forging Teams
* Creating Networks and Alliances
* Possessing Technological Savvy
* Being Comfortable with Ambiguity and Uncertainty
* Being Flexible and Agile
* Getting Things Done Through Others
* Reading Organizational Rhythms
* Communicating Well
* Creating Strategic Vision
* Synthesizing Competencies (Lee & King, 2001, pp. 80-82)."
