Who Are You?
Who Are You?
December 11, 2001
"Leadership cannot be taught, only experienced and learned. Ask yourself these questions. They will help you stop focusing on what you do and begin to consider who you are as a human being in community with others.
1. What sort of person am I today?
2. What sort of human being do I want to be?
3. What drives me?
4. What is important to me, my values and priorities?
5. What have I learned about myself so far?
6. What am I going to do with this information (Owen, 2000, p. 79)?"
Reference: Owen, H. (2000). In search of leaders. Chichester, England: John Wiley & Sons Ltd.
Take some time to reflect on who you are, and how that defines you as a leader.
In Search of Leaders is available on loan from the Ohio State University Leadership Center. A complete listing of all the Leadership Center's resources is available on our website http://leadershipcenter.osu.edu/
