Be as Creative with People as You Are with Your Ideas
Be as Creative with People as You Are with Your Ideas
August 12, 2003
"Creativity comes in all forms in business. You can be creative with words, computers, office design, purchasing procedures, cash management, the law, even the tax code. By creativity, I mean making the connection between two disparate concepts and coming up with a third concept that no one else sees as readily as you. If people appreciate your creativity, you will be well compensated throughout your life.
But there is one form of creativity that often goes unappreciated. That is creativity with people, by which I mean linking individuals who are seemingly unconnected and finding a mutually beneficial reason for them to get together. It goes unnoticed because, in many ways, it's taken for granted. Business, after all, is all about bringing disparate people together and forging a commercial connection between them (McCormack, 2000, p.23)."
