Courage
Courage
October 14, 2003
"Courage is the willingness to take risks and overcome fears, even when the outcome is uncertain.
We demonstrate courage each time we...
* Dare to do things or take on tasks that seem formidable or impossible.
* Maintain a steady disposition in the face of danger, challenge, or crisis.
* Keep up group morale even when we're opposed or threatened.
* Express our thoughts about a controversial issue.
* Draw attention to injustice, even though it may be culturally accepted.
* Take a risk even when the outcome is uncertain.
* Adhere to our personal beliefs in the face of great pressure.
* Challenge the status quo if warranted.
Now that's a tall order! But bringing our dreams and plans into reality often requires an enormous amount of courage (Ventrella, 2001, p. 135)."
