Bits of Reality to Stick on the Fridge and Help You Stay on Course
Bits of Reality to Stick on the Fridge and Help You Stay on Course
· "Life is a gift. Don't' trash it.
· Some get it. Some don't. Some will. Some won't. Those that do, do. Those that don't, don't.
· Remember the greatest gift you have to give is your mind. Use it and your life experiences to grow.
· Know the goal. Find out what you're good at, develop it, and give it back to the world. The world is waiting for your contribution.
· Always be the most decent human being that you can be, and don't waste your time!
· First rule of life's game: Show up!
· When you were born, you showed up. You're 1 in 200 million.
· Shout 'Why me?' when good things happen and shut up and listen for a change.
· Always remember to say 'thank you' when you wake up in the morning. After all, if you woke up, you're still alive and in the game.
· You're constantly writing the story of your life, so make it count.
· When bad stuff happens, think of it as fertilizer. It will help you grow.
· Adjust your attitude and move on. Don't waste your time.
· The only thing between birth and death is time. How you use your time will define your life.
· Whom you associate with is going to make a big difference in your life. So pick the best.
· Take control of your mind. If you don't somebody else will.
· Get prepared for the rain.
· Gravity works. When you were born, you couldn't walk without falling down.
· In order to get from A to B you have to take the first step. You have to learn that that's when you are the most vulnerable to being knocked down.
· People who do stupid things are trying to defy gravity.
· Not feeling like doing the right thing is no excuse for not doing the right thing.
· Knowledge is power.
· We are all feedback dependent.
· Make it 100 percent okay to receive criticism.
· Attitude is everything. It is how you influence other people.
· You can only be as successful as your ability to create, maintain, and influence positive human relationships. People need people.
· No one likes to be around a person with a negative attitude.
· People with negative attitudes rarely advance in their jobs.
· It's not what happens to you that's important. It's how you respond to what happens.
· A positive attitude uplifts the spirit.
· In order to get people to like being around you, to influence other people, you just have to shut up and listen for a change.
· The magic is you. The control of your attitude is inside.
· Know the role you must play in making things better, and then act your part.
· Be what you want to see.
· Practice training your mind. Practice gathering knowledge. Look for people who are good at influencing other people and mimic their behavior.
· Be a slave to discipline. Discipline will help you get through it when bad stuff happens.
· What works works. What doesn't work doesn't work. Working hard at things that don't work will never make them work. Stop working at things that don't work.
· Get up, go to work, come home, go to bed. Boring? To change the story of your life, change your mind.
· Move through life like it is the greatest experience in the world.
· It is impossible to feel depressed when you hold your head up and smile.
· Recognize the difference between a problem and an inconvenience.
· Respect, like prosperity, is valued more when it is earned.
· Life is an ongoing struggle between that which you know you should do and that which you feel like doing.
· Although you have freedom of choice, you will never in your life have freedom from consequence.
· To navigate in life we not only need a rudder; we need compass points to guides.
· Remember, there is no guarantee on time. Don't waste it (Alston & Thaxton, 2003, p. 128-131)."
