Nov 28 - Succeed with Integrity

Succeed with Integrity

November 28, 2006

"What are the characteristics of people with integrity - people who can be trusted when they give their word about anything, from keeping appointments to maintaining their loyalties?

They establish integrity as a top priority.  It is the cornerstone of their actions and desires.

They have clear, uncompromised values and communicate them without hesitation.

They do what is right and ethical regardless of the circumstances - no hidden agendas, no political games, and no regrets.

They never compromise their integrity by rationalizing a situation as 'an isolated incident.'  There are no 'isolated incidents.' They have decided where their integrity boundaries exist and stay within them.

They never allow achieving results to become more important than the means to their achievement.  How they win is just as important as winning.

They do what they say they will do.  Their integrity is judged every time they say they are going to do something - regardless of how insignificant they consider the commitment (Cottrell, 2005, p. 46-47)."
