1. Trust your staff.
2. Avoid seeking perfection.
3. Understand that giving effective job instructions is related to effective delegation practices.
4. Recognize that others have the talent and ability to accept and complete assignments.
5. Recognize your true interests.
6. Consider delegation a way to teach skills.
7. Build in controls to follow up on progress once a project has been delegated.
8. Praise the efforts of your staff.
9. Avoid crisis management.
10. Avoid reverse delegation.
11. Do not use delegation as an all-or-nothing proposition.
12. Support your employees.
13. Delegate to the lowest possible level (Wilson & Dobson, 2008, p. 70-73).
