You will embark on “your leadership journey”. The journey begins during the workshop but will continue…………forever. A saying appropriate for this journey is “…the only constant we can be certain of is change”. Just as journeys are often met with surprises, detours, delays, and new discoveries so will your leadership journey. Effective leaders must anticipate change, plan for change, and lead change with enthusiasm. Many contemporary leadership authors suggest that we are now moving into still another era commonly referred to as "the emerging age". Organizations and communities are struggling to address these societal changes while former leadership approaches between "leaders" and "followers" no longer seem to work as well as they once did. In the past, emphasis has been on learning leadership techniques as though they are tangible skills. This workshop provides opportunities to explore the capacities needed for emerging age leaders. Emerging age leadership focuses on strengthening organizations and communities through the personal transformation of leaders. The stage will be set for emerging age leadership through presentation, dialogue and small group activities. As a result of this workshop, participants will begin the process of understanding and clarifying their beliefs and values regarding leadership for the future. Through dialogue and reflection, individuals will identify how these beliefs and values affect their actions as a leader. In addition, individuals will search for ways to integrate their leadership actions with what is needed by the organization of the future.
