- Ethical leadership and decision making is a responsibility of all employees regardless of position within the organization.
- Leaders set the tone for others within their respective organizations or companies and must continually build their capacity as an ethical leader.
- Leaders who increase their knowledge of ethical issues have a stronger capacity to help others develop their own ethical awareness of what's right and act accordingly.
- Ethical leaders across organizations and companies create the culture of doing the right things in the right ways.
- Leaders will leave the workshop with specific information and tools that can be immediately utilized by themselves and others within their organizations.
Workshop Description
Ethics in today's workplace continues to get a lot of attention. This session will begin with creating an understanding of the basis for a strong ethical leadership and the importance in today's workplace. In addition, the workshop introduces strategies to effectively deal with those day-to-day ethical decisions we face even when neither option is good, or when you have to chose between two acceptable outcomes. As a result of participating in this workshop, individuals will have added value to their current capacities as leaders to create a highly ethical workplace.More specifically, as a result of this workshop individuals will -
- Understand the foundation for ethical leadership;
- Explore reasons for ethical failures in the workplace;
- Identify strategies for leaders and organizations to create an ethical workplace culture;
- Explore two ethical decision making models/formats; and
- Use an ethical decision making model on various workplace scenarios.
The presenter for this workshop is Jeff King, Ph.D. Jeff is the Director of the OSU Leadership Center and an Associate Professor with The Ohio State University. He has worked in the area of leadership and professional development for over 25 years. Jeff's bio can be accessed here.
