I Need to Learn Twitter and Facebook!
I Need to Learn Twitter and Facebook! Introduction to Using Social Media Tools for Leadership, Engagement, and to Enhance Networking and Relationships.
Thursday, September 10, 2009
9:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
2120 Fyffe Road, Room 105
Columbus, OH 43210
Everyone seems to be talking about social media and tools like Facebook and Twitter. Just what is it, and should I jump into the trend? This is an introductory program that will help participants:
- Explore what social media is and what it does;
- decide if social media is for me and what tools might be useful;
- learn to set up accounts and use the tools;
- understand the impact of the tools on work and leadership environments; and
- become familiar with the benefits and risks of the tools.
The program is primarily targeted to people with little or limited experience with social media. Part of the session will be actual demonstrations and discussions about the practical uses of the tools. We'll focus mostly on Twitter and Facebook but will also briefly discuss related tools and their application. The final part of the program will allow participants to explore the tools and set up accounts with their own laptops. We can provide a limited number of laptops. To register, contact Jerry Thomas at thomas.69@osu.edu or 419-306-9400.
