Servant Leadership: Principles and Practices
The fundamental principle of servant leadership is that one is a servant first and leader second. As a result of work completed by Robert Greenleaf, Larry Spears identified 10 characteristics of servant leadership. These were listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, commitment to growth of people, and building community. This workshop focuses on an in-depth look at each of the characteristics of servant leadership and their respective leadership behaviors.
More specifically this workshop will:
-
Review the history and philosophy of servant leadership;
-
Examine the characteristics of servant leadership;
-
Identify related leadership behaviors and approaches; and
-
Provide an opportunity for participants to self assess their servant leadership characteristics.
