Today’s professional regularly interacts with co-workers and members of their community. Relationships are key for successful job performance and working with others. These relationships occur on many levels: colleagues, customers, supervisors, and stakeholders. To be effective in working with others we must be present and in a healthy place to give and learn from each other. A key component for a healthy self is to be joyful even in during challenging or difficult times. The purpose of this presentation is to learn about living a joyful life to help foster productivity and ability to effectively engage with our colleagues and the community. The primary resource for this session is from The Book of Joy by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu (2106). Who better to provide insights on joy than two Nobel Peace Prize winners who are known for their loving, joyful approach to life who also have experienced extreme challenges and suffering from the Dalai Lama being exiled from Tibet to the Desmond Tutu dealing with oppression and apartheid in South Africa.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants learn about the principles and science of joy to become a more productive professional.
  • Participants develop strategies for utilizing the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu’s eight pillars of joy for personal and professional development.
  • Participants engage in joy practices to improve their job performance and relationships.

Scott Scheer is facilitating this workshop.
